Booking Process

Step 2: Route Conversation

We review your request and think through the route. If important details are missing, we may ask follow-up questions before preparing a proposal. This avoids building an itinerary that looks good on paper but does not match your expectations.

Step 3: Proposal and Quote

You receive a proposal with route, accommodation suggestions, inclusions, exclusions, pricing guidance and important notes. Prices may depend on availability, exchange rates, season, rooming, supplier terms and permit status.

A proposal is not confirmed until availability is checked and the required payment is received.

Step 4: Review and Refine

You can request reasonable adjustments before confirmation. This may include changing accommodation level, adding or removing nights, adjusting the order of destinations, adding beach time or considering a different arrival airport.

Step 5: Confirmation and Deposit

Once you are ready to proceed, Rift & Tide Africa issues booking confirmation details and payment instructions. A deposit or full payment may be required depending on travel dates and supplier conditions.

Some items may be non-refundable once confirmed, including gorilla permits, domestic flights, park fees, special permits and certain lodge deposits.

Step 6: Final Balance

The final balance due date will be shown on your invoice or booking confirmation. Bookings made close to departure may require full payment at the time of confirmation.

Late payment may lead to cancellation of services by suppliers.

Step 7: Travel Documents

Before departure, you receive final travel information, which may include:

• final itinerary;
• accommodation details;
• transfer information;
• domestic flight details, where applicable;
• guide or local contact details, where available;
• packing reminders;
• entry and health reminders;
• emergency contact information.

Step 8: Travel

During travel, follow the final itinerary, guide instructions, lodge guidance and local safety advice. If a problem arises, contact the local representative or Rift & Tide Africa support contact provided in your documents.

Booking Through a Travel Agent

If you are working with a travel advisor, Rift & Tide Africa may coordinate through the advisor unless otherwise agreed. Client-facing documents and communication arrangements should be confirmed before booking.
