Overview
This Cancellation Policy explains what happens if you cancel a confirmed booking, request changes, miss travel services or if services are affected by circumstances outside normal control.
Safari travel often involves advance commitments to lodges, camps, permit authorities, airlines, guides and transport providers. Some costs may become non-refundable immediately after confirmation.
How to Cancel
Cancellation requests must be sent in writing to reservations@riftandtideafrica.com. The effective cancellation date is the date Rift & Tide Africa receives the written request during normal business operations.
Verbal cancellations, WhatsApp messages to individual staff members or messages sent to guides may not be sufficient unless acknowledged by Rift & Tide Africa.
General Cancellation Charges
Unless your quotation or supplier terms state otherwise, the following general schedule may apply:
- More than 90 days before travel: loss of deposit and any non-refundable supplier costs.
- 61 to 90 days before travel: up to 40% of the total trip cost.
- 31 to 60 days before travel: up to 60% of the total trip cost.
- 15 to 30 days before travel: up to 80% of the total trip cost.
- 14 days or fewer before travel, no-show or early departure: up to 100% of the total trip cost.
These percentages are a general framework. Supplier terms may be stricter, especially for peak seasons, gorilla permits, domestic flights, private charters and special accommodation.
